Jesus carries his own cross to the place he is crucified in this version of the story. There is also a debate about what should have been written on the mocking sign placed above him that called him The King of Jews (in three languages apparently!).
Mary was a very popular name in Jesus' time, almost every woman seems to be called that.
One of the disciples will only believe the others really saw Jesus after his death if he sees the wounds from the nails in his hands and gets to put his fingers in them (ick).
The author of this book doesn't bother to record the details of miracles that Jesus performed in front of the disciples (doesn't that make him sound like some sort of after dinner magic act?) and also says that he did far too many things to be recorded in just one book.
There are several references throughout John to a disciple who Jesus loved, who never seems to be named, but I thought he loved all the disciples? What's different about this particular one?
