Jeremiah 51-52
Oct. 4th, 2010 08:50 pmGod will destroy Babylon and protect his own people, he seems to be punishing Babylon for what he made them do, invading all the other countries, and because they ransacked his temple when they did the invading he wanted them to do.
Oh wow, finally the end of Jeremiah, but first a reminder of a previous chapter that details the fall of Jerusalem to Babylon.

Date: 2010-10-05 10:37 pm (UTC)Jeremiah wrote all of the prophecies about Babylon on a scroll and sent it to Babylon to be read there (prior to the fall of Jerusalem, when Babylon was at its height). This was about 64 years prior to the fall of Babylon.
Zedekiah's war with the Babylonians is chronicled. The Babylonians eventually conquer Jerusalem and Zedekiah is captured, tried, blinded and taken to Babylon to die in prison. The Babylonians burn down the temple, tear down the walls of Jerusalem and take the people to Babylon. The temple is cleaned out of anything of value.
Jehoiachin is released from prison in Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar's son.
