A rival king dies, David sends a message of condolence to his son who decides the messengers are spies and makes an example of them. Which starts a war.

Satan tempts David to count his people, and God gets angry at David for doing it.

More events that occurred in David's time. Not sure why we have to be reminded of stuff that happened in the previous few books, but there you go...

At least it doesn't take long to read this book, skim reading lists of begats isn't too hard.
