God is describing monsters, fire breathing(?) monsters. But whatever it was it convinces Job that God is great and then God gives him back twice as much stuff as he had at the beginning.

I'm not sure you require faith in a God that pops by for a chat (not blind faith anyway), in fact Job says that it is the fact that he's seen God that has convinced him to take back any of the mean stuff he said.

And so Job lived to 140 and had a great rest of his life, glad it turned out OK in the end...

you are missing the big picture

In my opinion the summery of Job: Satan wants to show God up. God says go ahead and try. Satan does horrible things to Job (yes with God's permision). Job stays as faithful to God as a HUMAN can. Others acuse Job of being sinful as it is their only rational explination (remember the human race is very young at this point). Job continues to deny sin & question where God's mercy is. Basiclly Job & his accusers are like two children aruguing about who is right. God comes down with authority, not hate or malace, and basicly says neither of you know what is right only I do. God has to tell Job's accusers what to do to make up for not helping his faithful servent Job (sacrificial offerings). Job on the otherhand knows he was wrong, says so to the Lord, and without God telling him to he prays FOR HIS FRIENDS. Only then is Job's riches restored.

BIG PICTURE: Satan was testing God's authority on Earth. It back fired. God was never concerned with this. He used it for an opportunity to teach a greater lesson. It doesn't matter who is right and who is wrong. It doesn't matter who gets the last word or who God favors or doesn't. If someone is suffering, physcally, mentaly, morally, etc., it is not our place to judge or condem but simpley pray for and give a helping, conforting hand - not a condeming one.

IRONIC: As I read the above entries, I felt like I was reading Job all over again. Two entities arguing about who is wiser, who is right. Neither of you are wser then God. Please read Job with the lesson that we need to pray for eachother when we are down and not try to knock eachother further down.

PRAYER: Lord, God the wise. I pray for these souls to be put at ease. Calm their suffering in whatever capasity they feel upon them. Let them feel your unabounding love.
Your faithful but imperfect servent, Beth.
