I'm not dividing these up like I did with the Psalms as they seem to run together more.

'Let us all have one purse' sounds like a good Marxist proclamation.

Aside from that, we have lots of rules and warning of the consequences of not following as usual.

Seeking knowledge and understanding will only lead to getting those things from God, really? In fact it goes so far as to claim that your own understanding is not to be relied upon. But then apparently: "Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding." which in a non-biblical context I'd agree with.

The son this is all addressed to is then told to be merciful and truthful in order to find favour in the sight of God and man, so sometimes the opinions of people matter.

A good bit of "do unto others" advice to end on, I think we've already had some discussions on previous posts about how reciprocal altruism is what makes human society work and that it has been part of our evolutionary history for many thousands of years before these rules were apparently devised by God.

I ran across this blog today as I was reading my Bible and was interested to see what this was all about. I am happy to see that you are reading God's Word and hope that He will speak to your heart through His Word. It takes more effort to deny Him than to accept His free gift of Salvation for you. What Jesus did for us was the ultimate form of love and it amazes me that people try so hard to criticize and make fun of something so amazing. Maybe think of it this way: If I am wrong about trusting in Jesus Christ as my personal savior and trusting that he is going to take me to heaven one day, what do I have to lose? Really nothing. BUT what if you are wrong? What if there is a God and there is a heaven that as believers we can spend eternity there....What do you have to lose? EVERYTHING! Because waiting for your destiny to figure out if you are wrong gives you no chance to change your mind at that point. God truly does love you and wants to share a personal relationship with you, if you are only willing to trust in Him. I am not missing out on anything in life by accepting Jesus and neither would you. I hope I have given you something to think about!

Oh hello Occam's Razor! How do you know that the religion you follow is the correct one out of all the different variants there are or have ever been? You may have a lot to lose if you've picked wrong.

It really doesn't take all that much effort to deny God, just as it takes no effort to deny the existence of Santa, the Tooth Fairy, Leprechauns, Unicorns, the monster under my bed and whatever else.

I hope that gives you something to think about, and if you think my argument wouldn't convince you to change or lose religion then why do you think yours will work on me?
