Isaiah 13-17
Sep. 7th, 2010 10:13 pmGod will judge (destroy) Babylon (and Moab, and Damascus), and on the day of judgement the world will be destroyed, and the stars, sun and moon will be put out. Looking around I don't think that has happened. But the people of Israel will be looked upon kindly (well, the few who are left) and encouraged to mock the king of the destroyed Babylon for his defeat.
Profound thoughts from juspasenthru
Date: 2010-09-08 12:41 pm (UTC)Honestly the first thing that popped into my mind about your endeavor was that it was like the first time I watched "Napoleon Dynamite" with my son way back when. During the first viewing I spent the entire time saying, "This has got to be the stupidest movie of all time...what's the point, anyway?"
It takes several viewings before the movie really becomes funny. I'm told if you watch it enough you will Achieve Enlightenment. I imagine that's true.
My point, if I have any point at all, is that sometimes you have to linger a bit, re-read and ponder before it makes sense, if it ever does to you.
Right now I'm reading and re-reading the letter to the Colossians until I truly understand it. It's only four chapters long, so I figure I should have it down by Christmas.
Anyway, carry on. I'm too slow a reader to join you or I would. It's a cool endeavor.
