2 Thessalonians

It is obviously thought to have been a comfort to the Thessalonians to tell them that the people who don't follow the gospel or know God will be eternally punished, and that any persecution they themselves are undergoing for their beliefs is making them worthy for God's calling. Whatever helps them sleep at night I guess...
The day of the Lord will not arrive until a rebellion comes and a man is revealed who exalts himself over every other object of worship, the Thessalonians are not to be shaken by anyone claiming that this day has arrived yet. Apparently the hidden power of lawlessness that is supposed to lead to this man being revealed was already at work back then, I guess it's very slow moving?
