More claiming that other prophets are false, that their visions are just disturbances of their minds and they are using them to lead the people away from God.

The clay pot metaphor was not enough, now the good people of Israel are good figs and the bad ones are bad figs, funnily enough.

The passage on other prophets discusses how these prophets failed in their job. A true prophet of God would, first and foremost, encourage the people to keep God's covenant, to lead them back to God. These so-called prophets were nothing more that sycophants to the king. They didn't advise the King, nor the people, to keep the covenant. They were even poor charlatans, a good one would have at least advised following the covenant so they'd have some credibility. Since they willfully led the people astray, knowing the consequences, they will face the consequences for their apostasy

The story of the figs occurred after Jerusalem had fallen to Nebuchadnezzar (as Jeremiah had foretold). King Jehoiachin and all of the soldiers, skilled workers and priests had been taken into exile. What was left was a puppet king, Zedekiah who was Jehoiachin's uncle and the unskilled and uneducated. These people continued to worship their idols and sin consistently. The fig story states that the descendants of the best and brightest of Judah will return and rebuild Israel. Jeremiah didn't live to see this return, his prophecy was still accurate though.

Jeremiah predicts an exact number for the exile, 70 years, which turned out to be accurate (Jeremiah 25:11).
