Jeremiah 23-25

The clay pot metaphor was not enough, now the good people of Israel are good figs and the bad ones are bad figs, funnily enough.

King Jehoiachin and all of the soldiers, skilled workers and priests had been taken into exile. What was left was a puppet king, Zedekiah who was Jehoiachin's uncle and the unskilled and uneducated. These people continued to worship their idols and sin consistently. The fig story states that the descendants of the best and brightest of Judah will return and rebuild Israel. Jeremiah didn't live to see this return, his prophecy was still accurate though.
Jeremiah predicts an exact number for the exile, 70 years, which turned out to be accurate (Jeremiah 25:11).
