John 19-21
Dec. 20th, 2010 08:29 pmJesus carries his own cross to the place he is crucified in this version of the story. There is also a debate about what should have been written on the mocking sign placed above him that called him The King of Jews (in three languages apparently!).
Mary was a very popular name in Jesus' time, almost every woman seems to be called that.
One of the disciples will only believe the others really saw Jesus after his death if he sees the wounds from the nails in his hands and gets to put his fingers in them (ick).
The author of this book doesn't bother to record the details of miracles that Jesus performed in front of the disciples (doesn't that make him sound like some sort of after dinner magic act?) and also says that he did far too many things to be recorded in just one book.
There are several references throughout John to a disciple who Jesus loved, who never seems to be named, but I thought he loved all the disciples? What's different about this particular one?

The author Dan Brown wrote a fictitious story "The DaVincci Code." based on some of the legends that Mary was the disciple Jesus loved.
Jesus' loved disciple

Most of the disciples didn't even realize that he was the son of God until right before the cross, they just believed he was an amazing prophet from God.
The bible says God is not respecter of man, meaning he loves all his children equally, no matter where they are or what they've done/doing. Grace in all of it's beauty!
