Some of the animal sacrifices have a greater purpose than being demanded by God, if you sacrifice a particular animal (according to your status) then you will be forgiven your sins. That's right, innocent animals are killed for minor sins committed by humans. And only the priests get to eat certain parts, the same priests who are related to Moses, still the only person to talk to God and come up with rules about how to make dinner for a priest properly sacrifice these animals.

it's really interesting to hear your take on it. though it reflects what i think of it, it is damning to the average christian who thinks that the Bible is so perfect and "Holy" that aliens from another planet can come to earth and pick it up and be instantly converted over to christianity because of its holiness, lol. it was pretty foreign to you and you were ignorant of it before you started reading it and now that you have you haven't had any earth shattering or profound revelations from God, lol.

Nope, definitely lacking in the profound revelations, I've just had my previous suspicion confirmed, that God is an egomaniac who is only happy when his very specific demands are met and who doesn't really care at all about humanity.
