This may be a new book but it continues without a break from 2 Samuel.

David annoints Solomon king though one of his older sons wants to do it. This guy is so keen he's been slaughtering large numbers of animals. But David on his death bed, while being attended by a virgin, wants Solomon to be king so his other son ends up dead. However, David is still hanging on despite already being succeeded.
