Date: 2010-06-15 12:20 pm (UTC)David wanted to count the people so he could feel good about how big his kingdom was. God knew his heart so he told him not to do it but he did anyway. See God would not have told me not to count the people because my pride would not be there. God would have told me not to take any of the women for myself. And then I too would have ended up like David.
