Nehemiah 8-9

Having found Moses' book of laws, Ezra reads them out and gets everyone to start following them. Which they dutifully do. And then we need reminding of everything that's happened, again. How much more concise and to the point this book could be if the constant repetition was removed.

Foreshadowing

We seem to be following a similar schedule of bible reading... However, Nehemiah 8 is one of my favorite chapters thus far. The forshadowing of a good new testament church is wonderfully detailed. Ezra stands on a pulpet of wood, opens the book in the sight of all the people and the people all stood for the reading of God's word. And not only did Ezra read from God's word, but he ''gave the sense and caused them to understand the reading'' Praise God for the preachers who follow this description!
