Psalm 108: More praising God and calling enemies names
Psalm 109: These are some nasty things to be asking God to do to an enemy
Psalm 110: God will fill places with the dead bodies of heathens
Psalm 111: OK, back to praising God for his great works (which I guess includes smiting enemies)
Psalm 112: Great things will happen to God fearing men and the wicked will be jealous
Psalm 113: The Lord's name is to be praised during the day, does this praise stop at sunset?
Psalm 114: Sounds like someone is on something and hallucinating skipping mountains and hills

I find it intriguing that you are reading the Bible. More atheists should read it to gain a better perspective of the God they do not believe in.

Well actually a lot of atheists I know are ex-Christians, so I'm sure they know a lot about God really.

However, I'm a life long atheist though so apart from my state mandated religious education at school I haven't really read the book before.

I'm not sure I'm getting a better perspective, nothing has particularly surprised me yet.

May I ask what translation you're reading it in?

I'm mostly reading the KJV online and I have a bible that says it is the Authorized Version, whatever that means, I occasionally look up different translations if the meaning is completely passing me by.

I think it is great that you are reading the bible through in a year, and even more fantastic that you are still at it. So many people would have given up after a week or even a month. I just want to caution you on one note, and forgive me if someone has already told you this...everything that you read in the bible has a historical and cultural background. So many people claim to find contradictions in the bible, but that is because they don't understand the true meaning and intent of the message (which is effected by the background of who, what, where, why and all that good stuff). Reading a commentary may be extremely beneficial to gain the whole picture. Just a thought, take it as you will...

You seem you are upset and disappointed toward God
I hope you seek His face not just searching what to make fun of his words..the word is alive and supposed to come alive and make real changes in you which you and others would acknowledge..shining his light..
Good people fall seven times, they will get back up
But when the trouble strikes the wicked ,that's the end of them

It's hard to feel upset, angry or disappointed toward a being that I've never believed in and who very likely doesn't exist.

I am very impressed that you are reading the Bible.
just a few suggestions, if you seek the God of the Bible you will find him even if you doubt his existence.

Do you believe in the devil? Just curious, God and the devil are very real. What mad you become an atheist? I'm always curious to hear the reason behind it. Thats awesome you are reading the bible. It's good to try and gain a greater understanding of all things, even things you don't believe in. Good luck to you ;)

It would be a little illogical to not believe in God but still believe in the Devil, wouldn't it? And I didn't become an atheist, I don't have a deconversion story, my family is non-religious and I was allowed to make up my own mind about religion. Thanks for reading.
