The man that God has chosen to spread the word will not publicize himself or shout in the street (so all those street preachers and self publicising pastors are definitely not chosen)

Because God chose Israel and they are special, he's going to sacrifice other nations for the sins of Israel. I'm not sure why anyone has to die for these sins, but why a bunch of people who weren't lucky enough to be chosen.

Ah, so that's why people walk through fire to show their faith, because God said that the people of Israel could walk through fire and not be burned.

Wait, is God supposed to have only made the people of Israel and none of the other people on earth? He calls them the people he created for his glory and says they belong to him, this would sort of make more sense of why he picks on Israel. Aside from the fact that when a people creates a god to worship they'll obviously say that they are chosen and special to him and that when terrible things happen to them they'll put it down to annoying that god.

Also you would say bad things about the gods of other people to make your own god seem better by comparison, but then when you claim every natural phenomenon as being caused by your god there isn't much left for their gods to do.

When God says Israel he means the whole world. He chose all of us to spread his word which is the same as showing his love. Its not just words he wants us to preach, its the example we show others that I will love that person no matter who he is or what he does. He chose you, you are Israel brother

First I am very impressed and grateful that you are reading the Bible and honestly commenting. Your comments are quite reasonable, but you do not understand why God chosen Israelas his. You have to go back to Gen. 17:4 "As for me behold my covenant is with tee and thow shalt be a father of many nations" contrast with those who do not believe Psalm 78:22. Abraham is the "father of monothesism". He believed the one true God therefore his family was selected as the avenue to bring people back to salvation. Isa. 43:25 declares that God blots out our transgression for his sake He will not remember our sins. Israel was selected because Abraham believed. His family then is blessed to be the one that would bring forth the Messiah,.. that saves the entire world. In the New Testament we find that this promise was fulfilled and Jews and Gentiles are one people, one family. In Christ our salvation we are one people and all brothers and sisters.

Hi. I like your comments and I hear things in what you say that I have said also.
There is always a "but" and here's my but...
I got to a beyond really low point in my life and finally surrendered to God's terms, whether I liked it or not, and my viewpoint changed some. I can still see your point of view - but thinking on the other side of the picture, when God told Abram to leave Ur, why did God tell him? And if God told him, surely God had talked to others - but they didn't obey. See, I am a teacher and I have noticed that if I mention something to the class which is uninteresting and difficult, very few will do it. Usually at the most one or two. I have done this at times simply to see the motivation or listening skills of students. What if God called 50 people from Ur but Abram was the only one who followed? See, the Bible is basically simply following the storyline of people who chose to follow the God of Creation. Therefore, it stands to reason that others were called. I am now a sunday school teacher also and the more I know people, the more I believe that God speaks to every single person in some way. The question is how do they respond? I had a teenage girl from a messed up home, big mess. But she was coming to our house, church and one day she shyly told me she had asked Jesus to save her. And she glowed!! For about 6 months she was a totally different girl. I remember the day she told me that God had spoke to her and told her not to wear a certain t-shirt. I was just amazed! It was so neat because we certainly had never mentioned anything like that and it was a very terrible t-shirt. Then, about 4 months later, she came in to church wearing that shirt. And I asked her about it. And her attitude was "I will do what I want." Such a very small thing, but something she refused to obey in. I said all that to say this, It's Not 'the people of Israel whom God chose only special'. He did choose them, because they chose Him! And all through the Bible you find other people who were not Israelite who chose God and they are definitely included in God's 'chosen people'. Check out Jesus' genealogies in Matthew and Luke. Rahab, Ruth. Go to the New Testament and over and over it is stated that salvation is not only for the Jew but also the Gentile IF we choose to accept Him. On His terms. Not ours. We must submit. Seems very difficult and I am majorly stubborn but I have found submission to God to be the sweetest, most liberating experience. It is good if you will try. I still have cynical tendencies. Your opening statements about street preachers, etc warranted a big grin. I just see some confusion down through your other comments. God made everyone. God wants everyone to serve Him. Jesus paid the price for sin so no one has to die. Why, if I'm serving the (as I believe) only true God, do I need to say bad things about other people's gods? I don't. I ache for them people because they don't know the joy/freedom/love of my God. I wish I could somehow make them understand - so I smile and treat them wonderfully because I have something I wish I could share with everyone. Natural phenomenons - in Job it seems that God allowed Satan to create some bad weather. Haven't thought much about that. I guess I see weather as weather and don't think about it much. And it's too bad people 'create a god to worship'. I like to think that I was created to worship God rather than try to figure out how to please him, just experience him and then it's easy. I have prayed why I typed this, that you will just try accepting rather than arguing, like I finally did. If I think of you, I'll pray for you. Have a great day. Hope I meet you in Heaven! :)
