This guy Nicodemus must be the first person to have had the natural reaction to being told you have to be born again to get into heaven, um, how? Which reminds me of that joke, "If you're born again do you have two belly buttons?". Jesus says that you have to be born of water and spirit to enter the kingdom of God, sounds easier than what Nicodemus was imagining.

So, God loved the world so much he gave his Son, but only so that the people who believe in him can be saved, in fact those who don't believe are condemned. This God guy sure is loving.

Jesus pulls off a trick that is the bread and butter of every so called psychic's act, telling someone he just met details about their life that he couldn't possibly know. He tells a woman that she's had five husbands and is currently living with man she's not married to.

Because she has has five different men, men who hAve broken her heart, Jesus has compassion for her as she is looking for love in wrong places. So he is trying to reach out to her , not to look for flawed love that comes from men but he who gives eternal love and life. This woman who has a broken spirit receives it. Jesus usually reached out to the really broken when he was on earth as these are e ones who truly need his grace and mercy.

being born again doesn't make sense to someone who is not born again. BUT once you are born again being born again makes as much sense as....anything that you completly understand. I know I am born again like I know I love my own son. Jesus said that things like this would be hidden from the "world". You (and I am sorry and I hope that it will change for you) are a perfect example of the truth being hidden from the world, and being foolishness to those that considee themselves "wise". I AM COMPLETLY DIFFERENT THAN I WAS BEFORE I WAS BORN AGAIN. This passage that Jesus said to ol nick makes PERFECT sense to me and all those that pray to a living, loving, merciful, God BEFORE we read his word. it seems odd that you would not recognize that most help to get from one place to another requires faith in the helper. TO be born of water you needed no faith- you had no choice. To be born of the spirit you will have to choose. Christ has done the work, you will either receive the gift or not. Nicodemus chose to receive. I hope you will too.

Let's say a man deeply in love with his girlfriend gives her an engagement ring as an act of love. She would have to accept the ring in order to accept that act of love that he is giving her. If she doesn't accept it, it doesn't take away from the love he has for her. It just means she made a choice to reject his love. Just the same way the world even though Christ gave his life for ALL of us, not all will be saved BECAUSE many have rejected HIS love. FYI that's why the bible talks about Christ coming for His Bride, we (who have accepted Christ) are the engaged bride waiting for our Bridegroom. =) I pray that you hunger more for the Lord and truly come to know Him one on one.
