Jesus keeps talking about sending a spirit guide to prove the world wrong about sin, righteousness and judgement. He tells his disciples that they should be happy that he's leaving them because then he can send them this spirit. None of the disciples know what he's going on about.

Jesus prays for the disciples, asking God to keep them safe as they are not part of the world and the world hates them, who's fault is that?

Whose fault...

What does it matter? The important thing here is that they have decided to renew their relationship with God through God's ultimate sacrifice.

I really do not mean to be insulting, but that is a really childish and shallow question. Here is a suggestion:

As you read through the bible you need to be a responsible critic. There are few things in this world that can be truly understood out of context. For example, if I say, "I like my pot." The context here requires that you know something about me before you conclude what that statement means. If I were British you might think I meant a chimney; rock star - marijuana; metallurgist - an electrolytic cell; potter - pottery wheel; fisherman - a cage trap; was I gambling and won the pot?

Before you make cynical statements try to understand the language structures, culture, learn something about the author and his overall message and intent (most of the books are not simply a series of statements). Where are the writer's target readers in their lives/struggles/victories, etc. You can not simply read through the bible and conclude that it makes no sense or call things contradictions without the above understandings.

If you are willing, I would love to see an informed opinion in your future posts. That would lend you credibility, I think. :-)

Wow. You are so self-righteous.

She doesn't need to have an informed opinion for credibility. Know why? Here's why:

I mean, seriously. If Christians right now are the most Bible-illiterate of all time, and yet they try to control state matters (marriage, childbirth, laws, etc), then a non-Christian certainly doesn't need to be 'credible' in comparison.

If you're willing, I'd love to see an informed opinion in your future comments. That would lend you credibility, I think.

Ugh, it makes me so angry. So many people who comment here can't even spell and yet they're trying to guilt trip/condemn/convince/argue/teach!

I say if you try to debate or even state an opinion in matters of eternal life, you should at least use spellchecker. Ken up there can spell, but he's got a horrible case of self-righteous. I myself have a case of bitterness, but at least I try to respect the intelligence of who I'm speaking to, jesus fucking christ.
