Acts 11-13
Dec. 25th, 2010 10:02 pmThe first mention of the disciples and other followers being called Christians.
A prophet predicts a famine so the disciples send financial aid to the area that will be affected.
King Herod starts arranging to have various disciples killed, encouraged by the fact that their deaths pleased the Jews (apparently). But Peter is rescued from prison by an angel, and Herod is killed by an angel in front of a crowd.
Another man is convinced of the truth of what the disciples are preaching by being struck blind temporarily.
The disciples are filled with joy when the Jews start trying to disrupt the gathering of new believers and stirring up persecution. Some of this is reading like anti-Jewish propaganda.
