Paul is reminding Timothy that he should face his share of suffering as a soldier of Jesus and not fear it. He doesn't want Timothy to go the way of some of his other followers who have started to spread a bad version of the original message, and undermining people's faith.

Christians are not to engage in heated disputes and should correct opponents with gentleness while hoping that God will grant them repentance and they'll come to their senses. To be fair, most Christians who've commented here have followed this I think, just a minority who don't.

The people that should be avoided in the last days are the ones that commit the usual range of sins while maintaining an outward appearance of true religion, I think everyone knows people like that...

Paul says that every scripture is inspired by God, and their study will lead to wisdom for salvation and righteousness.

Paul talks about a few people who've abandoned him and done him harm, and asks that when Timothy comes to see him could he bring the cloak Paul left with someone and some scrolls as well, not sure why lines like that are kept in the bible but the banality of it amused me.

I love reading your perspectives. I have not read all of them, but you show more discipline than most of us Christians to actually make it through the whole Bible.

After you finish, if you still want another perspective on what is inside the Bible, I would suggest a book by Josh McDowell, More than a Carpenter.

Hey, I've also totally enjoyed reading your comments. As a Christian it's good to see how crazy the Bible can sound sometimes. It's a good to get a new perspective and I too admire your discipline in reading through the whole Bible.

Really? Every scripture? Including the ones that weren't part of the Scriptural canon yet, like... this epistle?

Which stories in the Old Testament were inspired? How about the Apocrypha?

It's a circular argument: The Bible is inspired by God. How do you know? Because it says so in the Bible!

why do people like to use pascal's wager all the time to threat or to bet,,,,

if the islamic god is true, there goes wolf to the islamic hell,,,

and if the tao is true, there will be 18 levels of hell waiting for wolf,,,,,

remember to look under the bed for monsters,,,,

but then again,,,,, since following your stuff since sometime back, don't think you believe any bed monsters or you need someone to die for you heinous sins,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I prefer the other version of that saying, mostly because it's more true:

No God Know Peace, Know God No Peace.

You know, I don't see how that version is more true. Most of the people who claim to have "no God" on this journal seem angrier and less peaceful than MOST who claim to "know God" on your journal. Most of the people who comment and proclaim faith (such as myself), wish to explain our views and understanding in a respectful manner (granted not all, but true for most comments I've read), but wish you peace and joy whether you believe or not. Do you think most of your "no God" commentors wish people of faith well? If not, where is the peace?

I see every comment and I would say that most people whatever their beliefs have been pretty respectful. In fact if anyone has been angry at me or this blog I would say it's mostly (a minority of) the believers.
