I agree that much of Chronicles is not all that interesting. I'm pretty sure it wasn't intended to be riveting stuff. It does make me think about how these events happened in the lives of real people with real names and often boring lives. If I were to make up a religious book out of whole cloth, I certainly wouldn't spend time writing this kind of stuff. In the larger narrative, it does show the fulfillment of promises that were made to the previous generations, so lifting up from the boring details, there is a larger narrative being fulfilled.
I think your project is interesting! I enjoy reading the Old Testament more when I pull up to a 35,000 ft perspective and look at the forest instead of getting caught up in all the trees. Then the trees make more sense to me.
