Psalm 103: I've read Verse 5 in several translations, and still can't fathom what "so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's" means. One version dropped it all together! :EDIT: OK, apparently there is a well known myth (not by me) that eagles shed their feathers and beaks at the age of 40 and then regrow them and live another 30 years. That's just crazy.
Psalm 104: Praising God for all the stuff he made, with a little tagged on plea to kill wicked people
Psalm 105: A reminder of the events of Exodus

I'm just over half way through now, I've kept this up for 6 months!!

6 months! I admire your tenaciousness.

I just wonder why god made those wicked people to begin with ;)

Congratulations on how far you have made it throughout the Bible, but your thoughts will be more complete once you read the entire Bible. I urge you to read 1 Timothy 2:1-6.

God made all things "GOOD" and man - VERY GOOD. But HE gave them a CLOICE. Either to remain faithful to HIM and continue to bless them or to CHOOSE thir own ways. GOD did not make people as ROBOTS. Even the angles were given the same privileges - CHOICE.
This was GOD'S doing even given the same choice to our 1st origin - ADAM/EVE - They can eat anything there in the garden of EDEN except for one tree and this is a TEST; they failed hence the beginning of a cursed generation and world we live in.

Go on the internet and look at eagles molting stage and it might shed light on the subject of renewing like an eagle

another verse relating to eagles

A few weeks ago my Uncle preached about the verse that says `he shall renew there strength and they shall mount up like eagles` the interpretation that was proposed stated that eagles rely on the air conditions to fly. they wait for the right winds inorder for them to swoop down. there for they really arent flying they are gliding. so it means that god wants you to rely on him so that you can just glide through life instead of always trying to flap your wings to stay in the air. i thougght this was really deep.

Life involves more effort

I can see where your coming from re putting in more effort. I personally am a christian but I don't beleive that you can rely on god without meeting half way so to speak. We are all given a functioning brain and various talents/skills. For instance I can't sit at home praying for a Job without putting a resume and expect god to send one to my doorstep. It's in that step of faith, placing my resume out there (maybe even when it doesn't look like a job your qualified for) that god can take over. It's happened many times in my life.

The hard thing for you to understand is you can't comprehend the bible entirely or understand it completely until you have accepted christ in your life. I can guarrantee when you sincerely do this you will see things in a different light. But that's your choice at the end of the day. :)

How is your reading going now?

I'm intrigued with all of the comments, and your resolve to read through the entire bible.

I'm a Christian, and have been for 20+ years. I'm on my third trip through the bible, plus a miriad of spot readings through Church and other personal reading plans.

Personally, the new testament helps me more to make sense of things, but even at this stage of my Faith, , I'm unsure of how to interpret certain things, and some of what my translations purport to be God's logic.

I understand that this is where Faith comes in. I choose to believe, and have Faith. I know that it's a choice, not always logical. I also choose while not agreeing with everything that I read, (or at least the way it's interpreted and translated)

Guess what? It's not always easy to believe. Many devout Christians doubt things they read. I'm amazed at how some make it seem so easy to blindly accept and believe. It hasn't worked that way for me, I'm a skeptic by nature (or by design).

However I cannot accept the thought that random occurances are responsible for my being, and for the events that surround my day tomorrow. I see too much evidence to the contrary, even though I don't understand it all.

Good luck with the balance of your reading.

Wolfpurplemoon, your point is contradictory to the very atheism you are trying to confirm as more probable... You are right, It is far more astounding/absurd to believe that we are here due to millions of random occurrences. Therefore it requires less faith to believe in an intelligent designer as the source of the universe than evolution/chance/ect as the source... All scientific theories about the origin of the universe aren't scientific, they all require an immense amount of blind faith and they all require ideas that defy the very fabric/laws of our physical world. So is it all that silly to believe in a creator that exists outside the constraints of time and space as the source? Which requires more faith? You might be interested in the book "The Source" which was written by a athiest and scientist who underwent a journey to disprove the existence of God.

Anwser to what person said below... God didn't make evil people! He made us in his sight and by him meaning beautiful! Us in the garden of eden, decided to sin against god! It was our choice to become evil, god didn't make us that way! God gives us a choice, and I guess those evil people u r talking bout choose to b evil!

It seems very odd for a being such as God to give people a choice if it was apparent to him from the beginning that so much evil and suffering would result from it. One would think that something with the qualities of God could have thought of a better way to do things.

I commend your effort and pray God to give you the fortitude not to relent.
You happen to be in a catch 22 situation. To really understand the Bible, you have to be guided by THE HOLY SPIRIT because the human mind is limited. This however presurposses you believe in the HOLY SPIRIT which you are trying to make sense of.
I need to wait for your reaction to this fact to continue. God bless you and help your understanding of HIS WORD.
